The GSLEP secretariat is inviting official representatives of all snow leopard range countries to participate in two consecutive workshops in Kathmandu, Nepal, aimed at building momentum towards developing management plans for the snow leopard landscapes identified under the Global Snow Leopard & Ecosystem Protection Program to be ‘secured by 2020’.

Given the crucial need for spatial analyses in management planning, the second workshop (April 25 – 27, 2016) is on coordinating geospatial mapping across the snow leopard range. Objectives of this 2nd workshop are to:

  • Coordinate among field scientists and mapping experts to develop a standardized approach to address key spatial planning needs in GSLEP landscapes
  • Build a standard vision for maps to support the key spatial planning needs in GSLEP landscapes
  • Assess data availability and gaps to support the mapping
  • Explore mechanisms for information sharing and communication

I received the announcement through a colleague. Currently, I am not affiliated with an organization but have been involved in wildlife biology projects with significant GIS work. I am interested in attending the event. Please advise if it is open to interested individuals.
